He has 26 years public sector healthcare experience in clinical nursing, academia and leadership roles. He is passionate about people development and has always supported people through a combination of role modelling, mentorship and coaching.
He provides a quiet, calm presence, with an ability to reflect and review situations in an objective and helpful manner. Ian easily builds lasting relationships with people of all seniority.
Ian has worked with various NHS and Universities as coach, facilitator, mentor, lecturer and assessor. Most recently he has been working for the Department of Health Modernising Scientific Careers team as a facilitator and trainer.
He has also acted as an advisor to private sector on business opportunities within education.
Ian won an award for the co-production of a course “Workforce Matters,” for aspiring HR Directors, funded by the NHS Institute.
Ian believes that everybody has the ability to contribute to immeasurably in life and work. His metaphor for work is that any hurdle can be overcome with the right training and track shoes – see it, visualise it, do it, learn from it, move forward- something which all of his teams have taken forward.
