y main motivation for my work, of course is family, I need a stable job. However, there is a lot more going on in this job that continues to keep me interested. For example, once I was working at a house where there was a lady in her 50`s, who would drink an entire bottle of wine and then ask us if any of us fancied her! Now, I am a married man so obviously I had to tell her that she was a very nice lady, but nah…
Then there was another time, where I had a job at a property for potential buyers. I finished the job and everyone was satisfied. Then, after the place was purchased, the buyers asked me if I could fix a light in the kitchen ceiling and then have a look in their loft space. So, I went up and when I came back down, they tried blaming me for a crack in their ceiling which I knew had already been there for at least 4 or 5 months! I knew they were lying and so did they.
Work is an extension of life, if you think about it. Once you get through so many years and you’ve seen so many things, I think that it’s important to keep in mind that there are enough things to worry about in life that are far more important than just your work. We all have to face difficult experiences at one time or another, but it’s getting through them that keeps me motivated and knowing I have a family to go home to that makes me happy.
